Week 2 gives the college football schedule a much stronger group of early measuring-stick games. The main college football games begin Friday night with Missouri at Kansas, then build into a Saturday filled with ranked teams and difficult road assignments.

Ranked Matchups

No. 10 Oklahoma at No. 16 Michigan starts Saturday’s major action at noon. The Sooners won last year’s meeting 24-13 and now return as 6.5-point favorites. The headliner comes at 7:30 p.m., when No. 1 Ohio State visits No. 5 Texas. Ohio State beat Texas 14-7 last August and 28-14 in the January 2025 meeting.

Conference Showdowns

No. 13 Alabama visits Kentucky at 3:30 p.m. Alabama has won all recent meetings, including a 49-21 victory at Kentucky in 2023. The Crimson Tide are favored by 10.5 points.

Rivalry Games to Watch

No. 25 Missouri visits Kansas Friday night at 8 p.m. Missouri won 42-31 last season and is 6-1 in the last seven meetings. Iowa State visits No. 22 Iowa Saturday at 7:30 p.m. The Under is 7-2-1 across their last 10 meetings, while Iowa State has won the last two outright.

The early college football predictions lean heavily on recent meetings when the same teams played last season. Our college football picks also account for Week 1 results without treating one game as a complete picture of either team.

Game-by-Game Predictions

Ohio State gets the call over Texas after winning both 2025 meetings and covering the spread in the last four games. Oklahoma is the pick at Michigan after a 51-0 opening game win and last year’s 24-13 win over the Wolverines. Oregon should beat Oklahoma State again, although laying more than three touchdowns requires more confidence than simply picking the winner.

Texas A&M is the straight-up choice over Arizona State, but the 15.5-point spread makes the side tougher. Alabama is favored to continue its long series of control against Kentucky. Tennessee is the pick over Georgia Tech after the Volunteers opened with a 56-9 win last week, while Georgia Tech lost 14-13 to Colorado.

Oklahoma -6.5 at Michigan is our top spread play. Oklahoma beat Michigan 24-13 last season as a 4.5-point favorite and outgained the Wolverines 408-288. The Sooners then opened 2026 with a 51-0 win, while Michigan edged Western Michigan 13-12.

Iowa State +14.5 at Iowa is the underdog spread choice. Iowa has won seven of the last 10 meetings, but is only 4-6 ATS in those games. Iowa State also won the last two meetings outright, including 16-13 last season.

Missouri -6.5 at Kansas is another spread worth backing. Missouri won last year’s matchup 42-31 and held a 595-254 advantage in total yardage, including a 261-31 edge on the ground.

Ohio State -104 at Texas offers the most appealing moneyline price among our featured games. Ohio State beat Texas twice in 2025 and is 4-0 ATS in the four head-to-head meetings provided.

Best Totals Bets

Ohio State-Texas Under 47.5 is the strongest total. The last four meetings stayed Under. Iowa State-Iowa Under 42.5 also deserves consideration with 7 of the last 10 meetings going under.

Games With the Biggest Betting Value

Finding value in college football betting is different from simply choosing the team most likely to win. The best college football betting picks often come from underdogs getting more points than the matchup history appears to justify, or favorites whose recent results support the price.

Texas -1.5 is dangerous given Ohio State’s recent series success. Iowa -14.5 also asks the Hawkeyes to win a rivalry game by a margin rarely seen in the recent series.

The college football rankings will eventually reflect much more than one result, so it is too early to call every strong opener a trend. Still, several college football teams created clear Week 1 impressions, while a few football NCAA teams enter Week 2 needing a response. That matters when evaluating college football teams before the sample grows.

With only one completed 2026 result for most teams, true winning streaks are not established yet. Ohio State beat Ball State 56-3, Texas beat Texas State 59-7, Arizona State beat Morgan State 70-7, Texas A&M beat Missouri State 50-0 and Alabama defeated East Carolina 48-10. Each enters Week 2 off a decisive win.

Teams Losing Momentum

Oklahoma State has the clearest concern after losing 24-10 at Tulsa as a 13.5-point favorite. Georgia Tech also enters its Tennessee matchup after a 14-13 loss to Colorado as a 6.5-point favorite.

Alabama lists WR N. Rogers and RB A. Dear as questionable with leg issues. Arizona State has three questionable offensive players, while LB Z. Fiaseu is on injured reserve. Texas A&M lists WR J. Missouri quarterback Austin Simmons completed 17 of 19 passes for 252 yards, four touchdowns and no interceptions. Oklahoma’s John Mateer went 11 of 17 for 225 yards with three touchdowns and no interceptions. Georgia Tech quarterback Alberto Mendoza completed 17 of 23 passes for 237 yards.

Impact Playmakers

Missouri receiver Donovan Olugbode has seven catches for 107 yards and two touchdowns. Kansas receiver Nik McMillan has six receptions for 130 yards and one score. Oklahoma receiver Isaiah Sategna III has four catches for 76 yards and a touchdown. Sooners running back Lloyd Avant has 79 yards and a touchdown on 15 carries. Kansas running back Yasin Willis has 72 yards and two touchdowns on 11 attempts.

Houston-Texas Tech and SMU-Louisville are already ranked-versus-ranked games on the Week 3 schedule. Both should draw more attention after this week because each team still has another result to add before those matchups arrive.

Games With Playoff Implications

No. 3 Georgia at Arkansas is another game to watch, especially with Georgia facing a road assignment. Florida State-Alabama could quickly affect the early national picture, while Kentucky at No. 8 Texas A&M gives the Aggies another important game immediately after hosting Arizona State.
