NFC South Odds 2026: Predictions, Standings & Team Analysis
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers enter the 2026 NFL season as favorites to win the NFC South, but last year’s standings showed how unpredictable this division can be. Carolina, Tampa Bay and Atlanta all finished 8-9, with the Panthers claiming the title through a three-team tiebreaker.
New Orleans finished 6-11, yet Tyler Shough’s late-season progress gives the Saints a realistic path forward. Tampa Bay must replace Mike Evans and Lavonte David, Atlanta has major quarterback questions, and Carolina is trying to prove last season was the beginning of something sustainable. I will look at the current NFC South odds, 2025 standings, key statistics, offseason changes and the factors that could decide the race. NFC South Division Overview
The NFC South produced the NFL’s only division champion with a losing record last season. Carolina finished 8-9 but won the title through a three-team tiebreaker over Tampa Bay and Atlanta. New Orleans was only two games behind at 6-11, which shows how little separated the division despite its overall struggles.
NFC South Teams
The four NFC South teams are the Carolina Panthers, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Atlanta Falcons and New Orleans Saints. Carolina is the defending champion, but Tampa Bay enters 2026 as the betting favorite. New Orleans and Carolina form the next tier, while Atlanta owns the longest current odds.
Why the NFC South Race Matters
The division may send only one team to the playoffs, so winning the NFC South could be the clearest path into the postseason. Tampa Bay is +123 to make the playoffs, while New Orleans is +184, Carolina is +201 and Atlanta is +236.
The quarterback picture also creates uncertainty. Baker Mayfield is the most established starter, but Bryce Young is coming off career highs, Shough finished his rookie year strongly, and Atlanta may need both Tua Tagovailoa and Michael Penix Jr. during the season. With no dominant favorite, a small improvement at quarterback or on defense could decide the race.
NFC South Odds to Win the Division
Tampa Bay holds the shortest NFC South price, but the gap is not large enough to make the Buccaneers a runaway favorite. New Orleans, Carolina and Atlanta all have realistic paths to first place, although each carries a different level of roster and quarterback risk.
Current Odds to Win NFC South
| Team | Division odds |
| Tampa Bay Buccaneers | +163 |
| New Orleans Saints | +257 |
| Carolina Panthers | +335 |
| Atlanta Falcons | +357 |
Tampa Bay’s +163 price reflects its recent control of the division and the belief that last year’s collapse was not the team’s true level. New Orleans is second at +257, followed by defending champion Carolina at +335 and Atlanta at +357.
The market sees all four teams as possible winners. However, Tampa Bay is the only one priced below +200, while Atlanta and Carolina offer more than twice the potential return.
NFC South Odds Movement
The early odds had Tampa Bay between +163 and +190, New Orleans between +257 and +260, Carolina between +260 and +335, and Atlanta between +210 and +357.
The current NFL odds keeps Tampa Bay in front and places New Orleans firmly in second. Carolina has a longer price than several earlier listings despite winning the division. Atlanta has also moved to a longer number than its earlier +210 figure.
The supporting markets remain cautious. Tampa Bay’s win total is 8.5, while New Orleans and Carolina are both at 7.5. Atlanta is listed at 6.5.
NFC South Standings and Recent Results
The NFC South produced a three-way tie at the top in 2025. Carolina, Tampa Bay and Atlanta all finished 8-9, while New Orleans ended the season 6-11. Carolina won the division through the tiebreaker process and hosted a playoff game.
Final 2025 NFC South Standings
| Team | Record | Points for | Points allowed |
| Carolina Panthers | 8-9 | 311 | 380 |
| Tampa Bay Buccaneers | 8-9 | 380 | 411 |
| Atlanta Falcons | 8-9 | 353 | 401 |
| New Orleans Saints | 6-11 | 306 | 383 |
All four teams went 3-3 within the division. Atlanta posted the best conference record at 7-5, while Carolina and Tampa Bay each finished 6-6. New Orleans went 4-8 in NFC games.
What the NFC South Standings Tell Us
Carolina won the title despite scoring only 311 points and posting a minus-69 point differential. Tampa Bay had the division’s best offense and point differential, but a 2-7 finish erased a 6-2 start.
Atlanta closed with four straight wins and still missed the playoffs through the tiebreaker. New Orleans finished last, but four wins in its final five games created optimism entering 2026.
The standings show a division without a dominant team. They also suggest that small changes in quarterback health, defensive production or late-season form could completely reorder the table.
NFC South Team-by-Team Breakdown
Each NFC South team has a realistic argument for improvement. Carolina strengthened its defense, Tampa Bay is trying to recover from a collapse, Atlanta has a new coach and New Orleans may have found its quarterback.
Carolina Panthers Division Outlook
Carolina enters 2026 as the defending champion after winning the NFC South at 8-9. Bryce Young set career highs with 3,011 passing yards, 23 touchdowns and a 63.6% completion rate, while Tetairoa McMillan won Offensive Rookie of the Year. The Panthers strengthened the defense with Jaelan Phillips, Devin Lloyd and Lee Hunter, then added offensive help through Monroe Freeling and Chris Brazzell. Carolina allowed 380 points and faces the division’s toughest schedule, but the roster appears stronger. At +335, the Panthers offer a reasonable price if Young continues to improve.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers Division Outlook
Tampa Bay looked ready to control the division after a 6-2 start, but a 2-7 finish left the Buccaneers outside the playoffs at 8-9. Baker Mayfield threw 12 touchdowns and one interception through six games, then 14 touchdowns and 10 interceptions over the final 11. Mike Evans and Lavonte David are gone, increasing the pressure on Mayfield, Chris Godwin, Emeka Egbuka and Jalen McMillan. Tampa Bay added Rueben Bain Jr., Kenneth Gainwell and Alex Anzalone, but the defense allowed 411 points. The Buccaneers deserve favorite status, although +163 offers limited value.
Atlanta Falcons Division Outlook
Atlanta also finished 8-9, extending its run to eight straight losing seasons. Kevin Stefanski replaces Raheem Morris, while Tua Tagovailoa joins Michael Penix Jr. in an uncertain quarterback room. Penix is 4-8 as a starter and is recovering from another knee injury. Tagovailoa threw 15 interceptions last season. The offense still has major weapons in Bijan Robinson, Drake London and Kyle Pitts. Robinson produced a franchise-record 2,298 yards from scrimmage on 366 touches. Atlanta’s defense ranked second in sacks but lost several contributors. At +357, the Falcons need quarterback stability to become a serious contender.
New Orleans Saints Division Outlook
New Orleans finished 6-11, but Tyler Shough gave the offense life after taking over. He went 5-4 as the starter and finished with 2,384 passing yards, 10 touchdowns and six interceptions. The Saints added Travis Etienne, Jordyn Tyson and Noah Fant to a group that already includes Alvin Kamara and Chris Olave. New Orleans also won four of its final five games and faces the NFL’s second-easiest schedule. The offense averaged only 18 points and ranked last in red-zone touchdown percentage, so improvement is necessary. At +257, the Saints have a credible path if Shough’s late-season progress continues.
NFC South Stats to Know
The 2025 statistics explain why the NFC South remained undecided until the end. Tampa Bay produced the best offense, but every team allowed more points than it scored. Carolina won the division despite ranking third in scoring.
Key Offensive Stats
Tampa Bay led the NFC South with 380 points and 22.4 points per game. Atlanta scored 353 and averaged 20.8. Carolina finished with 311 points and 18.3 per game, while New Orleans scored 306 and averaged 18.0.
Robinson was the division’s most productive all-purpose weapon with 2,298 yards from scrimmage. Young posted career highs in passing yards, touchdowns and completion percentage.
Shough threw for 2,384 yards in 11 appearances, while Mayfield finished with 26 touchdown passes and averaged 217.2 passing yards per game.
Key Defensive Stats
Carolina allowed 380 points, the best total in the division. New Orleans allowed 383, Atlanta allowed 401 and Tampa Bay allowed 411.
Atlanta ranked 15th in yards allowed, 19th in scoring defense and second in sacks. New Orleans finished ninth defensively, while Tampa Bay ranked 20th in points allowed.
The Panthers added Phillips and Lloyd after winning the division, while Tampa Bay lost David and must improve a defense that has finished outside the top half for three straight seasons. Defensive improvement could matter as much as quarterback play in this division.
NFC South Predictions
The NFC South is open enough that price matters. Tampa Bay is the favorite, but its roster losses and late-season collapse create questions. New Orleans and Carolina offer more attractive numbers, while Atlanta needs the most to go right.
Best Bet to Win NFC South
New Orleans at +257 is the best bet. Shough went 5-4 as the starter, and the Saints won four of their final five games. They added Etienne and Tyson to an offense that needed more support, while the defense finished ninth last season.
The schedule adds to the case. New Orleans faces the NFL’s second-easiest path based on opponents’ 2025 winning percentage. The Saints must improve an offense that averaged 18 points and finished last in red-zone touchdown percentage, but the combination of quarterback growth, new weapons and schedule value makes them the strongest NFC South bet.
NFC South Sleeper Pick
Carolina at +335 is the sleeper. The Panthers won the division, strengthened the defense and return a quarterback who set career highs in every major passing category.
Young also has a proven top target in McMillan and an offensive line that ranked inside the top 10 in pass-blocking efficiency. The tougher schedule creates risk, but Carolina does not need a dramatic leap. Modest improvement from Young and the defense could be enough to repeat.
NFC South Team to Avoid
Tampa Bay is the team to avoid at +163. The Buccaneers lost Evans and David, finished 2-7 after their strong start and allowed the most points in the division. They can still win, but the current price does not fully reflect those risks.
Factors That Could Decide the NFC South
Quarterback development and schedule strength should decide the NFC South. Every team has enough talent to remain competitive, but none enters the season without a major question at the most important position or somewhere else on the roster.
Quarterback Play
Mayfield owns the shortest MVP odds among NFC South quarterbacks at +5630. Shough is listed at +10026, while Young is +18096, Penix is +20107 and Tagovailoa is +25133.
Mayfield offers the most experience, but he must adjust without Evans and avoid another prolonged slump. Young must turn last year’s career highs into consistent winning play. Shough must prove his late-season success can last across a full schedule.
Atlanta faces the most uncertainty because Penix is recovering from another knee injury and Tagovailoa is coming off a 15-interception season. The team that receives the most stable quarterback play may win the division.
Strength of Schedule
New Orleans has the NFL’s second-easiest schedule based on opponents’ 2025 winning percentage at .434. Atlanta ranks fourth easiest at .465, while Tampa Bay is 12th at .491. Carolina has the division’s toughest schedule and ranks 23rd at .521.
The schedule strongly helps New Orleans and Atlanta. Carolina must defend its title against a more difficult path, while Tampa Bay sits near the middle. Those differences could become decisive in a division that ended with three teams tied at 8-9.
